  1. uPA was measured by a chromogenic assay (see Materials and methods) in serum-free conditioned medium collected over a 24 h period. Breast cells were cultured in the presence of plasminogen (2 ug/ml) and TGFβ (10-10 M). uPA was not detected in unstimulated breast cancer cells.
