Ki-67 and β4 integrin staining observed for MCF-10A, MCF-10AT, and MCF-10CA1a cells in three-dimensional culture. MCF-10A (top), MCF-10AT (middle), and MCF-10CA1a (bottom) cell lines stained to examine proliferation and basement membrane formation during growth in overlay three-dimensional culture. Single confocal sections stained for Ki-67 (A, E, I) indicate that only MCF-10CA1a cells continue to proliferate at day 20 in three-dimensional culture. β4 integrin (B, F, J) staining detects basement membrane deposition for all three cell lines.
