Increased expression of stemness regulator genes in HT-29 and Caco-2-derived spheroids compared to adherent counterparts. a Quantitative real-time PCR analysis of HT-29 spheroids revealed the high expression of key stemness genes OCT4, SOX2, NANOG and C-MYC compared to HT-29 parental cells with highest expression level of NANOG (p-value < 0.03). b Caco-2 spheroids showed an increased expression of SOX2, C-MYC and KLF4 compared to Caco-2 parental cells with highest expression of SOX2 (p-value < 0.029). Relative gene expression was evaluated following 10 and 4 days of culture for HT-29 and Caco-2 spheroids, respectively.
