Treatment with aloe-emodin for 24 h and western blotting analysis the protein expression levels. Aloe-emodin activated cleaved-caspase 3, cleaved-caspase 9, and significantly decreased Bcl-2 expression, ultimately causing the release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria into the cytoplasm.
