MTT standard curves. Cells curves for monoculture cells plated in a serial dilution ranging from 5000 to 120,000 cells/μl. Samples were incubated for 4 h with MTT as described in Materials and Methods. At the end of the MTT-incubation period, the formazan crystals were dissolved in DMSO. During the experiment the formazan/dimethyl sulphoxide solution was kept in the dark at room temperature. In the range 10,000 and 30,000 cells/μl, the data indicate a linear relationship between absorbance signal and cell number. Error bars indicate one standard error of the mean (SEM)
