The anti-tumor effect of the combination of ferrichrome and 5-FUwas greater than that of 5-FU alone.The tumor-suppressive effects of the combination of 0.5 mg/kg ferrichrome and 5 mg/kg 5-FU, including changes in the tumor volume and tumor weight, were significantly superior to those of monotherapy with these agents in a SW620 transplanted xenograft mouse model (a). Likewise, ferrichrome (5 mg/kg) and 5-FU (5 mg/kg) were administered to the AOM-DSS carcinogenesis model mice by intraperitoneal injection. The average tumor size of the combination treatment group was smaller in comparison to the single treatment group (b). *p < 0.05 by a one-way ANOVA followed by Ryan’s post hoc test.
