Quantitative evaluation of macropinocytosis by flow cytometry in U373-MG cells. Cells were untreated (C) or treated for 48 h with 90 mM trehalose (TRE), and let to incorporate FITC-dextran 70 kDa (FITC-Dex) for the last 3 h (A–C) or 24 h (D). The mean fluorescence intensity (A) and the percentage of fluorescent cells (B) were analyzed in at least 10,000 cells per sample. Results are presented as mean percentage (over control cells) ± SE (A) or mean ± SE (B) of 3–4 independent experiments performed in replicates. ***p < 0.001, significantly different from control cells.
