A schematic representation of the crosstalk between hTERT expression and various signaling pathways in cancer cells. Accumulating findings have demonstrated that telomerase could play a crucial role in unlimited proliferation and cellular immortality in various human tumor cells. Telomerase function could be modulated through several intracellular signaling cascades containing MAPK/ERK, PI3K/AKT/mTOR, Wnt/β-Catenin, and NFκB that mostly contribute to inflammation, EMT, cancer cell invasion, and metastasis [166]
