Illustration of the study results. Ferroptosis plays a vital role in oxidative stress-mediated cell death. When oxidative stress is triggered by FIs, autophagy and mitophagy are activated, ROS are removed, and damaged mitochondria are cleared. After DFIQ treatment, autophagic flux was disrupted. Moreover, mitophagy was also disrupted, promoting damaged mitochondria accumulation, elevating ROS and oxidative stress, and ferroptosis
